Art Fraternity Student Exhibition

The Hardin-Simmons University Art Department is hosting an exhibit of photographs, drawings, paintings, 3D works and designs by the HSU student members of the Kappa Pi International Art Fraternity, Beta Chi chapter. The public is invited to a reception with the artists present on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Regular gallery hours are 9:00 am -5:00 p.m., Monday – Thursday, Friday: 9 a.m.

The students exhibiting artwork are: Bryan Vause, Jaree Bell, Micah Davis, Lauren Taylor, Sean Ramirez, Savannah Dorris, José Muñiz, Hannah Lindsey, P. “Buff” Bustillos, Braeden Kuppin, Emilio Tolentino, and Ryan Stewart.

“This is an opportunity for us to display our art that we would not get unless we waited for our senior show,” said Kappa Pi Vice President Jaree Bell. “This chance to put up our art collectively is a way to show HSU the art department of this school.”

The HSU students featured in the show come from differing backgrounds and ways of life, and their artworks demonstrate the varying majors and artistic experiences of the members of Kappa Pi. This show will be a comprehensive and inspiring display of the hard work put in by students desiring to utilize their talents for the proclamation of God’s creation, their own view of the world around them, and their interpretation of beauty and sorrow.

“You can see through our art what we are experiencing in life right now,” Bell said. “How our hopes, our dreams, and our past, are encompassed in our art. It is a great way for us to express ourselves.”

Bell encourages students to attend the event and see what their fellow classmates are doing in their major. Chapel credit is available for students who attend.
