Hardin-Simmons to Celebrate National Day of Prayer
HSU will hold prayer rooms to advocate prayer
Prayer is a vital element in Hardin-Simmons’ students journey through faith and fellowship. On National Day of Prayer Thursday, May 4, HSU will be working to celebrate and advocate the importance of prayer.
This year’s theme will be: For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us… Forgive Us… Heal Us! The idea is taken from Daniel 9:19: “Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”
There will be prayer rooms available around campus for students, faculty, and staff to celebrate this day of reflection and communication with God. A prayer room in the Connally Missions Center will be open for anyone to come and go as they desire from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. An additional place of prayer will be held in room 116 in Anderson Hall.
Through these campus activities, Hardin Simmons will focus on involving prayer on a global, local, and personal spectrum.
The mission for National Day of Prayer is to mobilize prayer in America, and to encourage thousands of individuals, churches, and communities to rally millions of Christians to once again heed this call, according to Travis Craver, HSU’s Director of Spiritual Formation.
By showing awareness for National Day of Prayer, HSU hopes to mobilize prayer and inspire other universities, churches, and communities to become more involved in the act of prayer and praise to God.
In addition, HSU is hosting the BCFS’s National Day of Prayer Breakfast on Thursday. The private event will feature prayer led by numerous community leaders, including President Eric Bruntmyer who will help open the event.
