The Physician Assistant (PA) Program at Hardin-Simmons University will be honoring the hard work and success of the students in the program with a White Coat Ceremony on October 6. The event will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Logsdon Chapel. The family and friends of the students are encouraged to attend the cloaking.

At the ceremony, students will be cloaked in their white coats for the first time and welcomed to the medical profession. The coat symbolizes the students’ dedication to provide compassionate and comprehensive patient care. It also serves as a reminder for the students to keep the patient’s best interest at heart and to treat each patient as a person and not just for their illness.

“For many of us, being able to put on the white coat resembles the light at the end of the tunnel. Many of us were traveling different paths before college and faced a variety of bumps in the road that made us think that we would never be where we are now. But in that moment when we slide the white coat up our arms and feel it rest on our shoulders, we can proudly say ‘Momma, I made it!’,” said PA student, Regan Lee from Westphalia, Texas.

This event is a time honored tradition in the medical field and the first of its kind at Hardin-Simmons. This great honor will mark the student’s transition onto a clinical team and their journeys as future Physician Assistants.

“PA school is extremely competitive to get into, and it is truly an honor to be able to be at Hardin-Simmons, where I can receive an education that will help me be an effective and caring healthcare provider. I cannot wait for my family to be able to share this great accomplishment with me at the ceremony,” Lee said.
