83 Student-Athletes from HSU Named to the Fall Academic All-ASC Selection
Hardin-Simmons leads the ASC with the highest number of student-athletes to receive Academic All-Conference honors. The conference named 83 HSU student-athletes to the 2018 list, which includes a total of 662 collegiate level athletes who earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 at the end of the semester of their sport’s championship game.
The requirements for qualifying for the Academic All-ASC Selection are that the university must classify the student as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student during the competition season, the student must have attended their institution for two consecutive semesters, and the student must have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0. The students named this year represented 13 conference members and two other institutions. HSU athletes who made the list compete with the men’s and women’s cross country teams, the football team, the men’s and women’s soccer teams, and the volleyball team.
John Neese, director of athletics at HSU, says that “this is an achievement that all of us at HSU can appreciate. Our Faculty/ Staff deserve credit for helping bring the type of students to HSU who can succeed academically. Our student-athletes also deserve credit as they have shown the commitment that is required to successfully balance academics and athletics. This is the second consecutive year that HSU has had the highest number of athletes recognized by the American Southwest Conference for this academic honor.”
Congratulations to all of HSU’s 2018 Fall Academic All-Conference Teams.
