Alumna Pam Tippen ’78 named “Woman of Outstanding Achievement”

Pam Tippen was honored on Monday, April 4, 2022 by the Abilene branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) as a “Woman of Outstanding Achievement” during their annual luncheon. Below is her bio from the luncheon.

Pam Tippen graduated from the Abilene schools and Hardin-Simmons University.

While at HSU she met and married Philip Tippen in 1978. They have two sons, Will and Jay, their wives, Kaely and Carrie, and her three grandchildren, Lucy Jane, Samuel, and Henry that are the light of her life.

After graduating from Hardin-Simmons with a Medical Technology degree, she worked for Hendrick hospital for several years before starting Talsa Elk Ranch with her parents, John and Tina Hunter. While managing the ranch, she and her father opened Hunter’s Texas Stone. Pam devoted over twenty years to managing the quarrying, fabrication, and sales of architectural limestone. After selling the quarry, she continues to consult and sell limestone. She joined her sisters, Carla Limbaugh and Jennifer Jones, as co-owners of Salta Pipe Company. It was sold in 2019.

Pam’s multifaceted musical ability came to life on the music team at First Baptist Church and Mission Abilene.

Pam joined the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council Board and immediately accepted the chairmanship of the Adamson-Spalding Storybook Sculpture Garden while it was still an idea. Pam devoted thousands of hours planning, implementing, and managing hundreds of volunteers as they worked together to create the sculpture garden. This hard working volunteer, supervised numerous work days. She is involved on a daily basis and assists with special projects and events in Downtown Abilene.

Pam serves on the Abilene Zoological Board, delivers Meals on Wheels, having the same route since 2015, and is a part of the Big Country Hospice Pet Therapy team with her dog Brandy. They offer support and encouragement to patients in their last days.

Multitalented and gracious, Pam Tippen is a Woman of Outstanding Achievement.
