HSU Continues Partnership with Canine Companions
Hardin-Simmons University is continuing its partnership with Canine Companions for its third cycle and fourth puppy-in-training. Sesame and Serrano, sibling puppies, have joined the campus on the heels of their predecessors, Greer and Dion.
Canine Companions offers service animals to those in need for free. Training for a service dog can cost upward of $60,000, a financial mark that prevents the service for those who need it the most. By partnering with Canine Companions, HSU can help fill the need for service animals by contributing to the supply of well-trained puppies, which can then be paired with someone for free.
Their impact will be vast when Sesame’s and Serrano’s training is finished. Once assigned to an individual, each dog will increase independence and the overall lifestyle of its owner.
