On April 7, Dr. Rebekah Naylor, Distinguished Professor of Missions and Missionary-in-Residence at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, was invited to speak to the students in HSU’s Physician Assistant Program. Rebekah Naylor has served as a missionary in Bangalore Baptist Hospital, India, as a gynecologist, as a general surgeon, and as a hospital CEO.
Dr. Naylor was invited to share her experiences with HSU PA students in relation to how mission work is achieved in the various health care fields. She encouraged the students to follow God’s direction, make investments in people, and persevere in adversity. She shared,
If God gives you a task, He will make you competent to do it.
The Physician Assistant Program at Hardin-Simmons University seeks to not only provide academic excellence in medical education, but also to develop and prepare compassionate, professional PAs who are committed to lifelong leadership, learning, and community service.
With the same heart for missions as Dr. Naylor, the PA program has scheduled a mission trip to Kenya from April 23 through May 7, for the purpose of providing medical screenings and patient education. This trip will also serve to teach health professionals to recognize the importance of global health and service.
