Sierra Reeder, VP of Proven

Sophomore Sierra Reeder proudly serves as the vice president of Hardin-Simmons University’s African American club named Proven. Originally from Forest Hill, Texas, she came to Abilene to study communication sciences and disorders to become a speech-language pathologist.

Sierra joined Proven during the first week of her first year at HSU and has been a happy part of the club since. When asked about what Proven means to her, she said that the club means unity. “It means you’re not alone, no matter if you feel like you are. There will always be people welcoming you with open arms and loving hearts.”

Outside of her time in Proven, her favorite class has been clinical phonetics; the part she enjoyed most was learning the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). A class activity she loved was writing and decoding notes in the IPA.

Sierra looks forward to Proven’s Fitted Fridays on February 23 and the celebratory Black is Everything Dinner on February 29. She and the rest of Proven gladly invite everyone to attend the events or join Proven itself.
