Summer Beauty at HSU

Whether you are still on campus for summer classes or just visiting our little slice of home, keep an eye out as you stroll. Every sidewalk has companion trees, and every slice of grass has a verdant hue. Take a seat on a bench and enjoy the shade. Most of all, give thanks to the many men and women bustling about campus, maintaining the gorgeous landscape we are so lucky to share at Hardin-Simmons University.

In the summer, the campus blossoms into a healthy green; foliage and plants that found a foothold during the cool spring are now reaching their maximum growth. There’s no better place to observe this time of year’s beauty than Gilbert’s Pond.

Providing a cool place for Gilbert to relax and a calm landscape to study for your next test, the pond has been the focal point of campus beauty for years. It provides a little spot of cooler air in the summer amid the Texas heat. If you’re lucky, you might spend a few quiet moments watching Gilbert swim.

Though the pond is a centerpiece of landscaping on campus, there are many more places where the diligent work of our groundskeepers helps keep a tidy and pleasant atmosphere. Every tree-lined sidewalk is maintained and kept trimmed, even during the summer, so that no matter where you walk, you’re left with gorgeous views of under the boughs.
