The Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN) is seeking reaffirmation of its national accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and will be hosting a site visit on October 10-12, 2018. The baccalaureate degree program in Nursing (BSN), the Master’s degree program in Nursing (MSN) and the post-graduate Advanced Practice Registered Nursing program (APRN) are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

On October 30th, the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN) achieved a 93.55 percent success rate for the NCLEX-RN. The announcement came just weeks after the CCNE’s accreditation visit to PHSSN, which took place in mid-October.

Hardin-Simmons University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center are excited to announce the signing of an articulation agreement to allow qualified Hardin-Simmons students the opportunity to enter the TTUHSC’s Master of Public Health program after three years at Hardin-Simmons, therefore allowing students to get a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in Public Health in five years.

Hardin-Simmons proved that cold weather is not an excuse for not having fun with the fourth annual celebration of Oksoberfest. It was an event that took place at Anderson Lawn for celebrating the fall season and enjoying Halloween time while creating awareness about the month of National Substance Abuse Prevention. It is a celebration where everyone can relax, get some non-alcoholic drinks, carve out pumpkins and play games.

While summer is a time for many people to relax, for the HSU Spurs, it is the time to get into gear. The Spurs gathered for camp from July 1-4 to practice choreography for the 2019-20 season and prepare for the National Dance Association competition in Daytona, Florida.

The theatre program at Hardin-Simmons University proudly presents "Anything Goes," a musical love story set on board an ocean liner in 1934. Directed by Teri Wilkerson and Dr. Melody Rich, this show will open the 2018-2019 theatre season. Showtimes for "Anything Goes" are October 3-6 at 7:30 p.m. and October 7 at 2:00 p.m. in Van Ellis Theatre. Ticket costs are $15 for general admission, $10 for military, seniors, or outside students, $3 for Alumni, and $5 for Hardin-Simmons University faculty, staff, and students.

Last year, Hardin-Simmons began the new Christlieb Scholarship, a program where sponsors cover tuition costs for students who are independent and self-supporting. One student who has benefitted from the Christlieb Scholarship is Catherine Fuller, a sophomore pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting with a minor in legal studies.
